Free Alzheimer’s/dementia
series continues Tuesday
MANISTIQUE — The public is invited to attend a free presentation entitled “Caring for Someone with Alzheimer’s or Dementia” at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Hiawatha Community Center.
Ruth Almen, Alzheimer’s Association U.P. regional office, will be guest presenter. This program, held in conjunction with the regularly scheduled memory loss support group, is part of an ongoing series addressing issues related to dementia.

DIAL screening
March 7 at Holy Name
ESCANABA — Holy Name will hold a DIAL screening on Friday, March 14 for the 2008-09 school year in the Holy Name School gym. Students who will be five years old by Dec. 1, 2008, should be screened.
An appointment is necessary and can be made by calling the school office at 786-7550. Each appointment will run about one hour. Parents must bring the child’s legal birth certificate, immunization record and social security cared to appointments. Copies will made and originals returned.
DIAL screening does not automatically constitute registration for the school year. Registration can be done at the Holy Name School office beginning March 7, or at the time of screening. Enrollment is limited.

GLADSTONE — Gladstone American Legion Post 71 will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast Sunday, Feb. 17, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Legion hall. Menu items include: scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, toast, juice and coffee. Cost is $6 each for adults and $3 for children under 10.

meet Tuesday at Star Dust
ESCANABA — The Delta/Menominee County Senior Companion Program in-service meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m. at the Star Dust Lounge, 2116 Ludington St., Escanaba. Guest speaker will be Captain Robert Berbohm, speaking on fire safety.

RAPID RIVER — Department of Michigan Veterans service officer Rick Stewart will make three visits to Rapid River American Legion Post 301 Tuesday, Feb. 26. Office hours are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There is no charge for Stewart’s service, and membership in the American Legion is not required. ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club will meet Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Room 2018 at Bay de Noc Community College in the M-Tec building, 2000 N. 30th St.
